Kobieta siedziała w kącie, skulona, zmartwiała ze strachu. Mąż niedawno zginął, utopiony przez nią i jej towarzyszkę w ogrodowym basenie. Wciąż jednak prześladował ją jego widok, w snach i na jawie. Nagle usłyszała za drzwiami stuk maszyny do pisania w gabinecie męża. Po chwili ucichł i wtedy odważyła się przestąpić próg pokoju i zajrzeć do środka. Gabinet był pusty. Szła dalej, aż doszła do łazienki. Uchyliłą skrzypiąće drzwi i nagle ujrzałąpełzającą po poręczy wanny upiorną rękę leżącego pod wodą trupa męża. Zemdlała, a po chwili już jej na tym świecie nie było. Biedaczka, ciężko chorowała na serce.
