O wyższości mapy papierowej nad smartfonem

Jest 22 grudnia 2014 roku. Słońce już dawno zaszło. Kończy się przedostatni dzień mojej trzymiesięcznej podróży po Azji. Właśnie obejrzałam spektakl światło i dźwięk nad największą w świecie fontanną, Fontanną Bogactwa, którą od 1995 roku szczyci się Singapur. Dużo decybeli, kolorów, laserów i innych bajerów… Niespiesznie wracam do hotelu.

Jeszcze mam w oczach rozmigotane obrazy a w uszach melodie zsynchronizowane z laserami, gdy wzrok mój pada na młodzieńca stojącego przed przejściem dla pieszych. Mizernej postury chłopak przytłoczony jest plecakiem wystającym ponad jego głowę. Przybliża i oddala obraz na ekranie smartfona…

– Nie potrzebujesz planu? – pytam, widząc, a raczej wyczuwając, jego bezradność i zmęczenie.

– A masz? – pyta z nadzieją w oczach – To może w końcu dowiem się gdzie jestem!

Rozkładam plan. Z takim zapleczem, niczym rodowita mieszkanka Singapuru, bez problemu pokazuję gdzie jesteśmy. Jesteśmy tutaj, na Stamford Road, po prawej stronie mamy Park – Pomnik Wojny, po lewej Padang, rozległy trawiasty teren, miejsce uroczystości państwowych. Dalej po lewej stronie anglikańska katedra św. Andrzeja oddzielona od Padangu ulicą, która swą nazwę zawdzięcza też temu świętemu. Teraz lokalizujemy hotel chłopaka.

– Musisz minąć Raffles City – to ten kompleks za światłami, po prawej stronie – i na kolejnym skrzyżowaniu skręcić w lewo w Hill Street. Potem już cały czas prosto, jakieś 600 – 700 metrów. Skręcisz dopiero w drugą przecznicę za mostem. Też w lewo.

Żegnamy się. Widzę, że chętnie przejąłby mój papierowy plan Singapuru, ale aż taką altruistką nie jestem. I tylko nie jestem już pewna czy powinnam nadal myśleć o nabyciu smartfona…
