Zapadał wczesny listopadowy zmierzch. Przednia lampka mojego roweru mrugała miarowo. Jechałam ulicą Krowoderską. Chodnikiem, ale powoli. A może raczej: powoli, ale chodnikiem. Przed skrzyżowaniem z Kolberga drogę zagrodził mi wysoki mężczyzna.

– Nie pojedzie pani dalej – powiedział – proszę zejść na jezdnię. – Ja też się boję ciężarówek, kiedy prowadzę samochód, ale nie jeżdżę z tego powodu drogą, którą chodzą piesi. Miał miłą twarz, jakiś sympatyczny, mimo wszystko, ton w głosie – i absolutną rację. Uśmiechnęłam się przepraszająco i pojednawczo. Postanowiłam nie robić użytku z gotowych ripost typu: Jak mnie auto potrąci, to będą mnie leczyć za pieniądze z pana podatków… nie wypuszczam spalin w powietrze... nie powiększam korków… nie zastawiam pieszym trotuarów. Milczałam. Zdjął czapkę i pokazał szramę na czole. Powiedział mi, że w dzieciństwie przewrócił go jadący chodnikiem rowerzysta. Ja jemu, że na jezdni potrącił mnie kierowca i zrzucił z roweru na trawnik.

Przez kilka następnych minut wymienialiśmy uwagi na temat naszego ukochanego, ale niemożliwego miasta, w którym nie da się wydłużyć ścieżek rowerowych (ja) ani rozbudować parkingów (on). Przedstawiliśmy sobie nawzajem pomysłowe, całkowicie nie do zrealizowania postulaty. Na koniec uścisnęliśmy sobie ręce.

Od naszej wymiany zdań ścieżek rowerowych ani parkingów w Krakowie nie przybyło, ale pozostała po niej może jakaś wartość dodana – obustronne odkrycie, że nie zawsze odwieczny konflikt między pieszym czy kierowcą a rowerzystą musi zaczynać się retorycznym pytaniem: „Jak, k….., jeździsz!”, a kończyć ripostą: „Ty kretynie!”.
