Czym ono jest i jak opisać jego istotę – to niełatwe zadanie. Dla mnie piękno ma dwie odsłony: jedna na zewnątrz, druga wewnątrz człowieka. Podobnie jak w wypadku „rajskich ogrodów”. Pierwsza działa na zmysły, jest tym co widzimy na zewnątrz i wokół siebie. Najczęściej są to widoki, pejzaże, krajobrazy utworzone przez naturę lub skomponowane przez twórców gdy efekty ich pracy harmonijnie współgrają z zastanymi od wieków zabudowaniami. Tak jest w Krakowie, który jest mozaiką pięknych terenów, jak np. zakole Wisły pod Wawelem, Salwator czy niektóre zakątki Kazimierza. Na szczęście są architekci  krajobrazu, którzy dbają o to aby zachować ich niepowtarzalny urok, chociaż narzekają oni, że w Polsce piękno jest spychane na ostatnią pozycję. Zaprzeczają jednak temu bulwary Wiślane, które z każdym rokiem są coraz bardziej zadbane z dodatkowymi ścieżkami rowerowymi i alejkami spacerowymi z mnóstwem różnorodnych ławek, nawet w formie leżaków. Uporządkowana i wzbogacona o łąki kwiatowe zieleń pięknieje i cieszy oczy. Druga odsłona piękna – wnętrze człowieka – jest u każdego człowieka bardzo osobista, indywidualna i w dużym stopniu zależna od wrażliwości, oraz ogólnej kultury. Powoduje, że należy jej poszukać we własnym umyśle i odnajdywać w sobie wszystkie pozytywne emocje, harmonię i proporcje. Oznacza to, że odwieczne dążenie do prawdy, dobra i piękna nie zmienia się na przestrzeni dziejów. Mimo to definicja piękna w ciągu wieków stale ulega przemianom. Termin ten najłatwiej precyzują artyści i filozofowie i to różnie w różnych epokach. Współcześni artyści traktują je bardzo subiektywnie; dają, nieraz niezrozumiałą dla ogółu, własną definicję piękna, niezależnie od wcześniejszych kanonów. Sądzę, że jednak piękno nie jest tylko subiektywne, mimo znanej powszechnie maksymy „de gustibus est non disputandum”. O gustach się nie dyskutuje ale o ponadczasowych dziełach artystów tworzących zachwycające obrazy, filmy, koncerty, poezję dyskutuje się często latami bo tworzą oni piękno obiektywne i dla wszystkich.
